Iran’s POGC sets up gas platform at South Pars

TEHRAN, November 19, 2015

Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) has installed a gas platform with capacity to produce 500 million cu ft of gas from South Pars oilfield, a report said.

The facility has been created with the installation of the first marine structure of Phase 19 of the gas field's development project, said the Iran Daily report, which cited Mehr News Agency.

The new platform was the first to be installed as part of South Pars development projects, Hamidreza Masoudi, managing director of POGC, was quoted as saying in the report.

"Platform 19C weighs 2,700 tonnes and was installed within 68 months which is much shorter than the time taken for other projects in South Pars,” he said.

"With the construction and installation of the new platform, Platform SPD2 (Satellite Platform SPD19C) of Phase 19 of South Pars will produce up to 500 million cubic feet from this winter,” he added.

"Major plans to complete the platform have been undertaken and the final operation of the offshore structure will be accomplished by June," he concluded.
