Gasco pipeline .... key to Abu Dhabi energy needs.

Austrian group wins UAE pipeline contract

ABU DHABI, September 15, 2015

Austria's voestalpine group said it has been awarded a major contract to build a 114-km high-pressure IGD-E (Integrated Gas Development) pipeline for a gas plant in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The pipeline will be instrumental in supplying natural gas extracted in the Gulf region to the capital Abu Dhabi, thus catering to the surging demand for natural gas.

The contract, awarded by UAE-based National Gas and Industrialisation Company (Gasco), also includes the supply of 95,000 ton of premium linepipe plates for the project.

A leading Europan steel-based technology and capital goods group, voestalpine said the construction work is due for completion in 2017.

Once ready, Gasco will be able to produce and pipe an additional eleven million cubic meters of natural gas on a daily basis.

On the contract win, Wolfgang Eder, the chairman of the voestalpine board, said: "Market conditions in the energy sector are extremely challenging at the moment. As the leading manufacturer of high quality and innovative high-strength linepipe plates, that makes it all the more satisfying to have won another major contract."

"Through to spring 2016, this business deal ensures excellent capacity utilization in Linz, Austria. The material will be processed on site into pipes with a diameter of 42 inches by the partner company on behalf of Gasco," noted Eder.

The delivery period for the contract runs from October 2015 to March 2016, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
