GPIC achieves best-ever monthly production

MANAMA, September 8, 2015

The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) produced a record 136,592 tonnes of ammonia, urea and methenol in August, according to a top executive.

Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, president, pointed out that this best-ever monthly figure was achieved without any lost time accident, adding that GPIC is committed to the highest standards of safety and health.

The achievement comes as a result of the company’s approach on continuing to modernise its operational processes for plants and equipment and a commitment to implementing periodic maintenance procedures, as well as development of human resources, he said.

Dr Jawahery mentioned that GPIC follows internationally recognised systems for the protection of the environment and occupational health and safety, as well as providing responsible care.

GPIC is also keen on training national cadres, both within the Company and outside, to achieve sustainability in operations and services to the community, he said.

In recent years, the firm has witnessed growth in its production processes, which have resulted in achieving record numbers not only in production, employment and export levels, but also in the field of maintenance and safety, said Dr Jawahery.

He reiterated GPIC’s commitment to health and safety, the environment and social responsibility issues and said this had made the Company a positive role model in the private sector.

The company supports and takes part in various activities and events held by the institutions of civil society associations and professional clubs and institutions as payback to the community, he said.

It has also played a major role in rationalising the use of energy and water to meet the challenges ahead, he added. - TradeArabia News Service
