ACWA Power...wins 200MW stage of Dubai's solar park

ACWA Power bids for $5bn worth renewable projects

DUBAI, February 2, 2015

Saudi Arabian water and power projects firm Acwa Power is tendering for solar and conventional power projects projects worth more than $5 billion, reflecting growth in the renewable sector.

The company has won the contract to develop the next 200 megawatts (MW) stage of Dubai’s solar park and is also bidding for projects in Oman, Jordan and other countries in the region, Mohammad A Abunayyan, chairman of the company, was quoted as saying.

The company generates a combined 15,000MW of electricity and 2.5 million-cu-m of desalinated water.

“We are going to increase power generation capacity to 20,000MW by the year 2020 through both solar and conventional power projects,” said Abunayyan.
