Qatar's Nebras to develop solar power plant in Jordan

AMMAN, January 22, 2015

Qatar's Nebras Power has reached a financing agreement with its partners Diamond Generating Europe (DGE) and Kawar Group for the development of Shams Ma'an solar power plant in Jordan that will have a capacity of 52.5MW, said a report.
 
Nebras Power is a joint venture company in which Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) has 60 per cent, Qatar Holding 20 per cent and Qatar Petroleum International 20 per cent stake.

As per the agreement, Nebras Power along with its partners will finance the development of the project and own and operate the solar power plant,  reported The Peninsula.

The agreement will be for 18 years with, with Nebras Power owning 35 per cent of the project, while DGE will have a 35 per cent stake and Kawar Group 30 per cent, it stated.

On completion, the project will become one of the first renewable energy projects and the largest of its kind in Jordan.

The financing of the project is jointly done by a group of international banks and export credit agencies including Japan for International Co-operation and Nippon Export and Investment Insurance, it added.
