Nebras in finance deal for solar power project in Jordan

DOHA, January 20, 2015

Nebras Power and its partners Diamond Generating Europe and Kawar Group, have signed a finance deal for Shams Ma’an  Solar Power Plant Project in Jordan, according a report.


Nebras is a Qatari joint stock company in which Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) owns 60 per cent, Qatar Holding owns 20 per cent and Qatar Petroleum International has 20 per cent stake, said the Peninsula report.



The deal in Jordan is for 18 years with capacity of 52.5MW, it said.

Nebras Power owns 35 per cent of the project, while DGE owns 35 per cent and Kawar Group owns 30 per cent, a regulatory filing on Qatar Exchange.



The financing of the project will be jointly done by a group of international banks and export credit agencies including Japan for International Cooperation (JBIC), Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), Mizuho Bank and Standard Charter Bank.

Nebras Power along with its partners in accordance with this agreement will finance the development of the project and own and operate the Shams Ma’an solar power plant in Ma’an Jordan.

The project is one of the first renewable energy projects and the largest of its kind in Jordan.
