Jeddah, July 16, 2014
Saudi Arabia’s National Gas and Industrial Company (Gasco) has signed a deal with Juffali Industrial Products Company (Jipco), the exclusive agent for Mercedes-Benz Trucks in the kingdom, to acquire 100 trucks for a total value of SR39.5 million ($10.5 million).
Salman bin Mohammed Hassan Al-Jeshi, Gasco chairman, indicated that the company was keen to choose the trucks needed for transport from leading manufacturing companies that have been fitted with the latest equipment and must be able to ensure the highest levels of security for transport operations, due to the high sensitivity of the product – gas, to be transported.
The trucks must also comply with the ADR agreement concerning the transportation of hazardous materials, he said.
“After studying the market and the offers submitted to our company, we found that the Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks meet our needs and ensure the best performance for our gas transportation operations, which require high-capability trucks in terms of performance, security and safety,” said Al-Jeshi.
He noted that this is aimed at keeping pace with the qualitative shift and the accelerated transformation in gas transportation operations to accomplish the objectives of safety and reliability.
It also aims to ensure the continuity of these carriers’ operations at the best possible level, affirming that the company is keen to continue developing its carriers to reach to the highest levels of safety and security, implement the highest Saudi Arabian and GCC standard specifications, and adhere to the ADR specifications in all the company’s carriers.
Khaled bin Ahmed Al Juffali, chairman of the board of Juffali Industrial Products Company (Jipco), said: “Gasco is a major, national company and their transport operations are bound by special specifications due to the highly sensitive nature of the products they are transporting across the kingdom.”
The Actros trucks conform to the standard specifications of Saudi Arabia and the GCC Standardization Organization and are fitted with the highest levels of security and safety, he added. - TradeArabia News Service
