Global oil supply sufficient says Qatar
Doha, December 5, 2011
Global oil market supply is sufficient, Opec member Qatar's energy minister said on Sunday. "The prices are determined by the market and currently the suppy is enough," Mohammed Al-Sada told reporters on the sidelines of the World Petroleum Congress.
Earlier, the congress was opened by Qatar's Emir Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Thani. He said energy supplies from the Middle East will not be disrupted by political upheavals sweeping the region.
Meanwhile, Oman's oil minister said the oil market was well supplied and that current prices near $100 per barrel were appropriate.
Asked at the World Petroleum Congress whether the market was supplied and whether prices were appropriate near $100 per barrel, Omani Oil Minister Mohamed Bin Hamad Al Rumhi said, "yes".
Bahraini Energy Minister Abdul-Hussain Bin Ali Mirza also said oil prices near $100 should be considered a fair price. - Reuters
