Alstom to showcase smart grid technologies

Alstom Grid, a leader in electrical grids and the newest sector of the Alstom Group, is set to showcase its latest range of solutions at the 'GCC Power 2010' expo to be held in Doha from November 1 to 4.

Alstom Grid is an official sponsor of the biennial event being sponsored by GCC Cigre and hosted by Kahramaa, Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation.

The company will present and demonstrate a range of advanced technologies designed to improve network reliability and efficiency and drive the evolution of smarter, more flexible grids, said a top official.

The key highlights are the recently developed IEC 61850-9.2 compliant bus solutions for the protection, control, measurement and supervision of transmission and distribution systems, observed Michel Augonnet, Alstom Grid senior VP for Business Unit Systems.

Other important technologies shown will be the latest in power transformer monitoring, which reduces transformer electrical losses, and the latest network management solution.

Alstom's e-terradistribution Integrated Distribution Management System (IDMS) with an integrated platform providing Scada, Distribution Management and Outage Management, providing utilities with the capability to significantly enhance grid reliability and end-use customer satisfaction will also be showcased.

“Innovation is key in our industry and it is the reason why we intend - again - to present at GCC Power a selection of new solutions, to interact with our customers and visitors and discuss the answers to their specific needs,” Augonnet added.

Alstom will also present an important keynote opening paper at the conference on Substation Automation, the brain of efficient grid management.

In addition to discovering the large range of Alstom Grid’s Technical Institute training programs, visitors will be able to experience Alstom’s T155 GIS in 3D and the applications of our long-term maintenance solutions.

Gerhard Seyrling, Alstom Grid senior vice president for Innovation and Strategy, said the expo was a perfect paltform to highlight the latest products and solutions of Alstom Grid.

"Voltage Source Converter, the RPH3 point-on-wave switching controller; Compact Optical Sensor Intelligence (Cosi) range of digital instrument transformers; e-terrasource 2.0 multi-area; CIM-based modeling solution for power systems and e-terraplatform 2.6 advanced Energy Management System (EMS) will be showcased,” he added-TradeArabia News Service
