JAC launches new compact SUV

JAC Motors, a leading Chinese automaker, has launched a new compact SUV, the S2, specifically to target young consumers, a statement from the company said.
The S2 has a sporty appearance highlighting aesthetic details that appeal to a young population. It features a front grill with a high-impact bumper, chrome-trimmed grill adornment, and a multi-functional leather steering wheel. Additionally, it comes in several colours that were selected by Internet customers.
The SUV has been fitted with a JAC 1.5L engine, which achieves top power of 83kw/RPM and a maximum torque of 146Nm/rpm, considered one of the best Chinese engines in the market currently, according to the statement.
The statement adds that, in professional tests, the S2’s acceleration performance was found to be superior to vehicles of the same class along with a fuel consumption of only 6.5 litres/100 km.
Besides the highly effective combination of the engine and CVT transmission, the S2 is also equipped with intelligent driving equipment such as HAS, ESP and CCS, all qualifying the S2 among the top-ranked SUVs.
In terms of safety, the S2 has adopted a high-impact car body design with side air bags. 26 per cent of the vehicle’s body is made of high-strength steel, and a further 21.5 per cent of super high-strength steel. It has been equipped with an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist (BA), Brake Override System (BOS) and other intelligent equipment that helps drivers safely enjoy their journey.
For entertainment, the S2 has a 7-inch central control capacitive screen, a car audio system, GPS/dual mode navigation and positioning system, and a reversing radar with reverse image system.
The company held an internet release conference recently and an on-site release conference at the 2015 Chengdu Motor Show, and received orders of more than 10,000 units in just 18 days. The S2 internet release conference attracted more than two million participants.
The release of S2 is on the back of immensely successful sales figures for the JAC S3, which sold 91,859 units in H1 2015, topping the sales list amongst all compact SUVs in China, it said. -TradeArabia News Service
