Toyota's new hybrid Camry posts double digit growth

New Camry registers 27pc growth since launch

DUBAI, October 11, 2015

Al-Futtaim Motors, the exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE, said the refreshed styling of its new Camry helped the brand achieve a solid 27 per cent growth in sales in the three months since the launch of the 2016 model.

Coupled with best in class Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and the market’s best resale value, the Toyota Camry cements its status as the best-selling vehicle in its class.

Along with this impressive growth, Al-Futtaim Motors continues to nurture and grow its relationship with the UAE government and taxi companies by providing hybrid transport solutions across the UAE.

Compared to last year, Toyota has seen an 82 per cent growth in the Camry Hybrid Taxi market and expects even further growth year on year, according to Al-Futtaim Motors.

Saud Abbasi, managing director of Al-Futtaim Motors, said: “The Toyota Camry enjoys a special place in the hearts of many UAE motorists and corporation, and has been one of our top performers since we launched the car 23 years ago. This year alone, more than 100 Camry Hybrid vehicles have been delivered to major taxi operators in the UAE, making in excess of 200 environmentally-friendly vehicles available to commuters in the UAE. Our goal is to speed up the cycle to help all involved stakeholders reach the Dubai Vision 2021 goal of a sustainable future society, while contributing to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.”

Toyota is a pioneer in hybrid technology, with the launch of the Toyota Prius in 1997. Since then, three generations of the Toyota Prius have passed with a fourth on the horizon. The latest generation of Toyota’s hybrid offerings will use the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) modular platform for better ride and handling. They are also designed to deliver significantly improved fuel economy in a more compact package that is lighter in weight and lower in cost.

While the Toyota Camry has been a staple in UAE transport since its launch in the country in 1992, with more than 150,000 vehicles sold, the redesigned styling which features an aggressive looking front bumper and grille, and pronounced side character lines that give the new Camry a far more expressive style, combined with impressive performance, has attracted new customers.

Al-Futtaim Motors will showcase Toyota’s hybrid and eco-friendly technology at the upcoming Dubai International Motor Show, taking place from November 10 to 14 at the Dubai World Trade Center. – TradeArabia News Service
