GM Egypt launches new pick-up vehicle
CAIRO, July 29, 2015
General Motors Egypt launched on Wednesday the sixth generation of its Chevrolet product following an E£180 million ($22.9 million) upgrade of its production facilities, said a report.
The new Chevrolet Dabbabah builds on General Motors’ (GM) success since the 1980s in the pick-up (vehicle) market in Egypt, a market it has now led for 28 years, said a report in the Daily news Egypt citing a press release statement from GM.
The vehicle will usher in a new era of design, performance and durability, further added the report.
Tarek Atta, managing director of GM Egypt and North Africa, said the new vehicle has been designed and engineered for Egyptian conditions and market needs.
“The Chevrolet Dabbabah has the highest level of locally-manufactured components in its segment, delivered by a wide base of Egypt’s leading suppliers who have themselves made significant investments in advanced manufacturing technology,” further read the statement.
