More men flout traffic laws in Bahrain: report

A majority of drivers who flout traffic laws in Bahrain are men, according to figures.
Males made up 78.35 per cent of drivers who were at fault, compared with 15.86 per cent women, according to statistics compiled by the General Directorate of traffic.
Meanwhile, 58.86 per cent of Bahraini drivers were at fault last year while foreigners made up the remaining 41.14 per cent, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
An average of 7.20 people per 100,000 died last year in road accidents.
Motorists whose driving experience did not exceed four years were involved in 42.69 per cent of accidents last year.
The statistics also revealed that 26.49 per cent of pedestrians wounded in accidents were below the age of 10.
Releasing the figures, Traffic Culture director Major Osama Bahr said the tough new traffic law that has come into force in Bahrain aimed to slash fatal accidents, protect lives and property and make Bahrain's roads safer. - TradeArabia News Service
