Dubai, March 30, 2014
Al-Futtaim Motors, the exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE has announced the launch of two new limited edition FJ Cruisers, the Xtreme and Street.
Available for only 200 customers, the FJ Xtreme and FJ Street epitomise Waku Doki, a Japanese term for adrenaline rush, a statement said.
The FJ Cruiser Xtreme comes with Fox stage 1 suspension, enabling motorists to drive on the most challenging terrains, 16-inch Matt Black alloy wheels, radiant smoked LED front turn signal and tail lamps, front fog lamps & DRLs for enhanced visibility, rugged Bushwacker fender flares in addition to a hood scoop for better engine ventilation.
The limited edition FJ Street it exhibits an imposing exterior through a chrome front grille, door handles and exhaust tip, in addition to 20-inch chrome alloy wheels, allowing the city driver to defy conventions and enjoy a car with a distinct character.
The Street version also comes with lower coil suspension for improved handling as well as front fog lamps and DRLs to enhance the drivers’ visibility when cruising through the city.
Jon Williams, managing director, Al-Futtaim Motors said: “The FJ Cruiser has enjoyed a special relationship with the people of the UAE, ever since it was introduced in 2007, capturing significant attention from the younger drivers due to its retro appearance and excellent off-road performance. With the launch of these two limited edition models we want to offer something a little more personal to those who like to defy everything labelled as typical, conventional or expected.”
“We celebrated the launch of this project with a region-first 4DX commercial that started running in VOX cinemas alongside the new blockbuster movie Need for Speed. This new technology advert offered us the perfect opportunity to virtually get the audience behind the wheel and help them experience all the thrills, bumps, jumps and intensity of an FJ driving experience. It perfectly fits the FJ spirit,” he added.
The Xtreme project is in collaboration with Arctic Trucks, the Icelandic company specializing since 1990 in modifying 4WD vehicles for special utility companies, police and military bodies, for use in remote locations, glaciers and the desert.
Cars modified by Arctic Trucks have been used on expeditions in the North and South Pole, over the glaciers of Greenland and on the erupting Icelandic volcano, Eyjafallajökull.
Priced at Dh149,900 ($40,800) for the Xtreme, and Dh164,900 for Street, the limited models are available in five-speed automatic transmission and 4.0L V6 engine. – TradeArabia News Service
