All-new 2012 Ford Focus arrives in GCC

Dubai, January 29, 2012

The all-new next-generation Ford Focus has arrived in Ford showrooms across the GCC with its three-model line-up of sporty five-door hatchback, sleek four-door sedan and five-door wagon.

Distinguished by its sleek and sporty design, the new Focus is packed with more affordable technologies and features than ever before in this segment, said a statement.

“The all-new 2012 Ford Focus redefines the small car category with class-leading fuel economy, distinctive design and strong driving dynamics. Focus offers class-exclusive technologies such as torque vectoring control, active park assist, push-button start, and a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission,” said Paul Anderson, Ford Middle East’s regional director of Marketing.

“We are really excited to offer this exceptional compact car that brings to its segment unique features and quality that you would normally expect from a luxury vehicle. The new Focus is yet another proof point of our continued commitment to bring the products and technologies that our customers want.”

"With its desirable combination of dynamic design, outstanding driver appeal, unmatched levels of technology, impressive fuel economy, and great value, we believe that the new Focus will not only delight our existing customers but also expand the appeal of the Focus brand to a whole new generation of Ford customers," he added.

Developed in Europe, for sale in over 120 markets worldwide with 80 per cent parts commonality, the next-generation Focus is the hero model created from Ford Motor Company's new global C segment platform, a statement said.

This platform will underpin at least ten vehicles around the world and account for two million units of annual production by 2012, it added.

For the Middle East markets, Ford Focus will be built at the Ford assembly plant in Saarlouis (Germany).

At 1,484mm high, 4,358mm long and 1,823mm wide (without mirrors), the new five-door model is 16mm lower, 21mm longer and 16mm narrower than the current European Focus.  Its wheelbase is 8mm longer at 2,648mm.

The new Focus has a modern, cockpit-style interior, featuring Ford’s latest generation Human Machine Interface (HMI) system. Twin five-way toggle switches on the steering wheel control the two main vehicle displays located in the instrument cluster and high in the centre of the instrument panel.

The new Ford Focus' powertrain range delivers spirited performance and offers outstanding fuel economy and CO2 emissions. The new model is available with the 1.6L Duratec Ti-VCT and the 2.0L Duratec Ti-VCT engines, paired with five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions. – TradeArabia News Service
