Kuwait gears up for classic car show

Kuwait’s Historical Vintage & Classic Cars Museum said Concours d’Elegance, one of the world’s leading car shows, will be held in the country for the second consecutive year.
The event, that will feature more car related entertainment for the whole family, will run from February 2 to 6.
This year’s competition and exclusive show will be held at Marina Mall and Crescent, on a larger scale than last year’s event and will feature more car related entertainment for the whole family.
The key highlights will include cars from Hollywood movies, including the original James Bond's car, Aston Martin DB5 used in Goldfinger and special events for Muscle Cars, Italian sports cars and motorbikes show by Kuwait Riders and Kuwait Porsche Club as well as a large selection of some of the world’s rarest, most valuable, and most exotic models.
Ahmed S. Alenizi, member of Kuwait’s Historical Vintage & Classic Cars Museum, said: 'The Concours d’Elegance puts Kuwait on the international stage with the many other countries with similar prestigious competitions.'
'Kuwait stands out because of the quality and variety of motorcars it can attract and the huge popularity of the event, not just for car lovers but for families and for people from all parts of our society,' he remarked.
This year’s event will be larger and more varied than before, celebrating Kuwait’s Golden Jubilee year since independence and its 20th year since liberation.
'Besides it being the 5th anniversary of the ascendance of The Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the Leadership of Kuwait, the show will attract even larger numbers of visitors than last time and be a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone,' he added.
Zakaria Dashti, head of Information & Media Committee at the Historical, Vintage & Classic Cars Museum of Kuwait said the first Kuwait Concours d’Elegance, held last year, attracted thousands of cars lovers not only from Kuwait but from all over the world.
'The event provided popular entertainment and was a great success for Kuwait, being placed number five amongst the world’s best auto competitions,' he added.
Paul Goldsmith, president of Tokyo Concours d’Elegance and consultant of Kuwait’s Concours d’Elegance dubbed the event as one of the most renowned and prestigious auto competitions in the world.
Each year there are numerous events which take place across the world, many of which are world famous, including Villa d’Este in Italy, Goodwood in UK, and Pebble Beach in USA. The Kuwait Concours d’Elegance is rapidly becoming a fixture in this international programme, able to attract some of the world’s rarest and exotic motorcars.”
The show, being organized by Five Levels Event Management and Productions Company at Marina Crescent, will be open from 10am to 10pm.-TradeArabia News Service
