Mazda2 production begins at new Thai plant
Thailand, October 26, 2009
Japan-based Mazda Motor Corporation has commenced production of its award-winning Mazda2 at the new passenger car plant at Auto Alliance Thailand (AAT), a joint venture with Ford Motor Company of the US.
The Mazda2 (known as Mazda Demio in Japan) produced at AAT will be sold mainly in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), a statement said.
“The Thai-produced Mazda2 will be one of Mazda’s core products in the Asean region,” said Annurag Chawla, head of marketing & communications, Towell Auto Centre, exclusive dealer for Mazda vehicles in Oman.
“The Thai-produced Mazda2 will be a key element in Mazda’s future growth in the ASEAN region, which is continuing to see ever growing demand for small cars. We consider that the Mazda2 model will also play a pivotal role in Mazda’s global strategy,” Chawla added. – TradeArabia News Service
