Porsche sponsors top golf event

Porsche Middle East & Africa along with Porsche Centre Dubai – Al Nabooda Automobiles, recently sponsored a golf tournament hosted by Gary Player, the three-time Masters winner golf legend, on his first time playing in the UAE.
The Worldwide Golf 100th Anniversary Invitational was held at the Emirates Golf Club on April 24 and was presented by Ecco, a global leader in comfort footwear, under the patronage of Sheikh Saeed Bin Mohammed Bin Hashem Al Maktoum.
Vijay Rao, general manager at Porsche Centre Dubai and David Smith, regional manager at Porsche Middle East welcomed Player and ensured his optimal comfort by providing him with two exclusive Porsche Cayennes to take him around during his stay in the UAE.
The 73-year-old South African native commented on his visit to Dubai: “I have nothing but admiration for Sheikh Mohammed and his remarkable vision in creating such a thriving business, tourism and golfing centre in Dubai. I have been a frequent visitor to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Oman over the years.”
“Porsche is always thrilled to be in association with the world’s best in sports,” said Vijay Rao.
“Player has created an incredible legacy in golf, and Porsche was more than happy to actively participate in this invitational and to show our support for the event and of course, for Player,” he added.
Player has just completed his 52nd Masters tournament, which is considered to be an all time record. He has won a total of nine majors and nine senior majors, and he claimed his first title in 1955, in Egypt.
Following his initial victory, he went on to win 167 official tournaments around the world and he has traveled more than 14 million miles across the globe. He is acknowledged around the world as golf’s greatest ambassador and international figure.
