Gargash Enterprises, the general distributor for Mercedes-Benz in Dubai, Sharjah & Northern Emirates, said it has invested Dh80 million ($22 million) in two new service centres in Sharjah and Dubai.

These units were officially inaugerated by Dr Joachim Schmidt, president and CEO, Daimler Central/Eastern Europe, Africa & Asia together with Abdul Jabbar Gargash, executive director, Shehab Gargash, deputy executive director, and Nicholas Speeks, president and CEO, Daimler Middle East & Levant.

“The new workshops indicate that our valued partners are still willing to invest long-term in the automotive business,” said Dr Schmidt.

“Although we have seen a softening of sales in the UAE, we still believe that by the end of the year deliveries will increase and, therefore, this investment bodes well for the future,” he noted.

The new service centre in Sharjah, which will be officially open for business this summer, has 50 bays, parking for over 100 cars and will be able to handle up to 90 customers per day.

Facilities also include an Express Service Centre, car wash, a Star Café and a dedicated waiting lounge for ladies.

The new Dubai service centre is located on Sheikh Zayed Road beside the new-car showroom and the recently-opened approved used car outlet.

'The 27-bay luxury workshop offers valet parking plus a VIP Star Lounge with on-site Wi-Fi connectivity from where customers can watch their cars being serviced,' said Ewan Ramsay, general manager, Gargash Enterprises.

The other services include a SIXT rent-a-car office and a spare parts counter.
