Dubai, October 1, 2007
Volkswagen will be presenting a wide range of models at the 9th Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai next month.
The Europe’s largest automaker will take part in the expo, to be held from November 14 – 18 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, along with its local partner Al Nabooda Automobiles.
Volkswagen will be displaying 10 different models in Hall 1. Enjoying a star role on the VW stand will be the new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), the Tiguan, which will be making its Middle East debut at the show.
Managing director of Volkswagen Middle East, Hans-Dieter Keller, said: “The Middle East International Motor Show is the largest event of its kind in the Middle East. It provides us with an excellent platform to keep our customers and the public well informed about the new models that were launched this year and what new and exciting products are coming in 2008.”
K Rajaram, CEO of Al Nabooda Automobiles, said: “The Middle East International Motor Show is proving to be an absolute delight for car fanatics, buyers and amateur enthusiasts. Each year, the show gets bigger and better. This year, Al Nabooda Automobiles has prepared a great line up of models, most notably the Tiguan which is expected to be the biggest attraction at our stand.”
Volkswagen and Al Nabooda Automobiles have taken an exposition area of 616 sq m.
Launching in the region in 2008, the Tiguan is an entirely new generation of SUVs developed to complement the Touareg. It is also the world’s first production model exclusively equipped with supercharged engines. This “high-performance turbocharging” significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions, yet immensely increases dynamics and driving fun, said Rajaram.
Volkswagen will also be using this year’s show to unveil the new version of the Golf Plus: the CrossGolf. It merges the can-do qualities of a compact SUV with the versatility of a small Multi Purpose vehicle (MPV) into a new crossover model. Like its little brother – the successful CrossPolo – the CrossGolf was also individually conceived by the experts division in matters of refinement and special vehicles at Volkswagen, he said.
Also making its first appearance in the region at the show will be the new Phaeton, a car that has been reconceptualised in many technical areas. New technical innovations of the modified Phaeton include “Front Assist” braking distance reduction, “Side Assist” lane changing assistant, a new DVD navigation system and a modified infotainment system.
Further highlights for visitors will be the Eos, Volkswagen’s new coupe-convertible that was recently launched in the region. As a world first, the four-seater Eos is equipped with a stunning hardtop dual technology design, boasting an integrated sliding/tilting glass roof as standard making it the perfect choice for this region’s climatic extremes. Moving from coupe to cabriolet has been made effortlessly simple through the integrated electro-hydraulics system giving the Eos the sleekest of maneuvers in just 25 seconds.
“Receiving rave reviews from customers all around the world, the new generation Touareg will also be another feature at the show. With over 2,300 new parts, the new Touareg symbolises a completely new generation of contemporary SUVs. The Touareg unites the world of off-road vehicles with the comfortable dimensions of a luxury sedan and the dynamic attributes of a sports car. Power and robustness are only demonstrated where required by functionality. All other design elements of the body radiate contemporary elegance and self-assured dynamics,” said Keller.
Other models on display at the show include the Golf R32, Golf GTI, New Beetle, Passat Turbo and the Jetta.
“We are looking forward to another successful and exciting year at the Middle East International Motor Show, especially with t
