Tamkeen backs 26 businesses at garden show

Tamkeen, Bahrain’s labour fund, is backing 26 businesses and Bahraini farmers to take part at the upcoming Bahrain International Garden Show.
The show will run from February 27 to March 1 at the Bahrain International Convention and Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development.
The support, which totals to BD50,500 ($133,175), comes as part of Tamkeen’s drive to enhance the Bahrain’s private sector and boost its contribution to economic development, said a statement.
It is through the ‘Tarweej’ scheme, which supports businesses to take part in exhibitions and trade fairs held in Bahrain and abroad under its Enterprise Development Support Scheme.
The businesses and farmers served through the scheme a wide variety of agricultural activities, including plant and flower production, landscaping and gardening tools products and services, farming and irrigation equipment, vegetable, fruit, and foodstuff production.
Mohammed Bucheery, Tamkeen’s vice-president of Private Sector Support, said: “Tamkeen continues to be a key partner in supporting the development of the agricultural sector and the National Initiative for Agricultural Development.
