National Institute for Industrial Training (NIIT) managing director Dr Hashim Hashim has died, aged 54.

Dr Hashim was an accomplished author, who has lived in Bahrain for the past two years, said a report in the Gulf Daily News.

He was previously a lecturer at Bradford College in the UK.

"This was shocking news to us," said NIIT chairman Emad Almoayyed.

"This is not only a loss to the institute, but also a loss to the training sector in Bahrain.

"This man was loved by all his staff, colleagues, and whoever worked with him. He always worked on improving the training sector and published many researches and titles on ways to improve it. Our condolences go to his family and beloved ones." - TradeArabia News Service
