Election panel meets volunteer team leaders

UAE’s National Election Committee met the team leaders of Takatof, the voluntary social programme designed by Emirates Foundation, who will participate in the regulatory process of the 2011 Federal National Council elections.
The meeting explained the details of the various tasks that will be undertaken by volunteers during the election day.
The National Election Committee provided a complete picture of the duties of the volunteers and their job description, in addition to focusing on enhancing awareness on the electoral process, the Federal National Council and Election Management Committee of NEC.
The meeting was attended by Dr Saeed Al Ghafli, assistant undersecretary for Federal National Council and NEC’s Rapporteur; Sami Bin Adi, assistant undersecretary for support services at the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and member of the Election Management Committee; and other officials.
"The National Election Committee seeks to ensure an ideal electoral process, and is committed to implementing the best training programs for various participants, who are involved in the elections. The meetings for the volunteer team leaders detailed all the aspects associated with the election day – from the moment voters arrive at the voting centre, until their departure,” said Dr Al Ghafli.
"The National Election Committee has signed a memorandum of understanding with Takatof to provide volunteers to participate in the elections. Takatof has extensive experience and efficiency in volunteering and through our meetings, we explained the various tasks of the volunteers in line with the vision of the National Election Committee,” he added.
Adi provided an overview of the various functions and tasks to be undertaken by volunteers, particularly in terms of receiving voters and ensuring that voters carry UAE ID cards issued by Emirates Identity Authority, in addition to ensuring there is no crowding at the entrance to the voting centre, regulating access in case of any congestion, and other related issues. - TradeArabia News Service
