Bahrain backs ‘Green Buildings Specifications’
Manama, June 27, 2011
The Bahrain Ministry of Works said it has adopted an initiative aimed at supporting ‘Green Buildings Specifications’ in line with the Kingdom's Economic Vision 2030.
The initiative seeks to provide support for projects implemented by the ministry through the application of green buildings specifications, to preserve power and protect environmental resources.
‘Bahrain is now investing in the field of green energy as part of its commitment towards creating lasting water and electricity resources,' remaarked construction projects director Mona Al Motawa.
'The construction projects directorate has already applied green buildings specifications at a number of schools currently under construction,' she stated.
Al Motawa said the ministry's objective was to provide a safe and healthy environment for students.
'We have used environment-friendly materials in air channels and air conditioners, which have limited effect on Greenhouse effect/Global warming. Controlling air conditioning and lighting systems also contributes positively to preserving energy,’ she added.-TradeArabia News Service
