Dubai Fashion Week gets new owner
Dubai, June 30, 2010
Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) October 2010, the region’s leading fashion event, has been taken over by Capital Marketing (Capital).
Established in 2005, with the vision to create a service provider with total commitment towards customer satisfaction, Capital currently operates a highly successful outdoor, events and sports consultancy business, operating across the GCC.
The takeover of DFW is a part of Capital’s expansion plans to become one of the top five regional service providers in the next five years and with grand designs to make Dubai Fashion Week a league fashion event, said a statement.
Capital has strategically retained the core DFW team to create unrivalled in-house fashion expertise and operational excellence, it said.
“DFW will be bigger, more energetic and a fashion display like never before in the Middle East. We are not revamping the show completely, but introducing strategic changes that will bring visible enhancements to the event, like an additional day, improved time management and better designer’s and buyer’s relations. The most critical achievement in this journey will be making DFW the most talked about fashion event in the region,” stated Manoj Bhojwani, chairman of Capital.
While planning is still on for the October 2010 event, expected changes include, a new breed of international, regional and local designers showcasing their 2011 collections, coupled with a strong mix of serious buyers.
Dubai Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 (DFW SS11) will then be increased to run over six days with five shows per day, totaling 30 shows over the six day event. The timings of the event have also been revised and will now start and end earlier giving more time and flexibility to the designers and buyers.
Further prominence is to be given to the Emerging Talent Segment, a sub-event within DFW, which provides up and coming designers with the platform to showcase their collections.
“There is no doubt that Capital has the history, expertise and professionalism to run Dubai Fashion Week and we are very enthusiastic that with the increased resources the October event will be the biggest and best yet,” added Saif Ali Khan, vice president, Dubai Fashion Week.
The entries to register for showcasing at DFW SS11 and participate in the Emerging Talent show are now open.-TradeArabia News Service
