Workshops for media personnel resume

Abu Dhabi, January 22, 2009

The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MSFNCA), in co-operation with Sharjah University, resumed its training workshop in political communication for media personnel.

The workshop titled, 'Media communications and IT use in media ' focused on giving the media personnel a better perspective on how to write effective articles with a strong message and how to better use the technology tools in order to be more efficient while dealing with political issues and related events that take place in the country, region or internationally.

The workshop also introduced case studies and technology sessions explaining ways to enhance research skills on the Internet.

The workshop series, which started in November and will continue in the months ahead, gained positive feedback from participating journalists who highlighted the need for such initiatives aimed at strengthening the partnership between the Ministry and the media, thus enhancing awareness on political practices amongst the public.

'The media plays a very significant role in developing our parliamentary experience, which has enriched the political process of the country. This positive trend needs transparency and credibility of the media who communicate the details of the FNC activities to the public,' said Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of the Federal National Council Affairs.

'We strongly believe in the media's role in strengthening the political process and spreading awareness about it in the UAE,' added Tariq Lootah, director general of the MSFNCA.-TradeArabia News Service
