Bahrain horticulturists invited to orchid show
Manama, January 15, 2009
Horticulturists from Bahrain are being invited to attend one of the world's biggest orchid shows taking place in Taiwan later this year.
More than 200,000 professions from around the globe will gather in Taipei for the nine-day event, which starts on March 7.
The Taiwan International Orchid Show is being hosted by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council and will be held at the Taipei World Trade Centre.
It will showcase a large number of decorative displays and rare orchid breeds as well as scientific technology used to aid growth.
Taiwan is the world's largest exporter of orchids, said organisers.
The event will also feature a symposium with world renowned speakers and orchid experts run by the US-based International Commercial Orchid Growers Organisations, they said.
Manufacturers of gardening equipment, florists, landscapers and officials will display products at the event that is expected to draw the attendance of municipalities and government park officials.
Organisers hope the event will promote international technical exchanges and trade opportunities between Taiwan and participating countries.
The Taiwan Technical Mission in Manama is already nearly half way through a five-year trial of orchid production being run in co-operation with the Municipalities and Agriculture Ministry.
Experts have successfully grown hundreds of flowers and fruits during experiments conducted at the department's headquarters in Budaiya.
The trade mission is helping to promote the show and wants to attract as many
horticulturists as possible to participate.
It will also offer participants with information about travel and accommodation.-TradeArabia News Service
