Carpets and Arts Oasis, one of the most popular attractions in Dubai Shopping Festival 2009, will open its doors today (January 15).

The event is organised by Dubai Customs as part of its participation in this year’s DSF. Being held for the 14th consecutive year, the annual event will see the participation of a wide range of companies and merchants from the most renowned carpet manufacturers and weavers based in Iran, Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan.

“The event has become an essential annual attraction that continues for more than three consecutive weeks and more in certain occasions and features over 150,000 masterpieces of exquisite hand woven carpets of different shapes, colors, sizes and designs, some of which bear the signature of the most renowned artisans in the trade,” said Abdul Rahman Essa, head of the Carpets and Arts Oasis Committee.

71 exhibitors are taking part in the Carpets & Arts Oasis 2009. The event will also feature live presentations on carpet weaving.-TradeArabia News Service
