Tecom joins ‘Clean Up the World’ drive

Tecom Investments, a member of Dubai Holding, in conjunction with several of its entities, took part in a cleaning campaign organised by Australia-based organisation Clean Up the World and supported by UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

More than 150 staff members from Tecom Investments and its business partners collected over 100 bags of waste material from the streets of Dubai in collaboration with Dubai Municipality during the 'Clean Up the World 2008' drive.

The participating entities included Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Knowledge Village, Enpark, and Dubai International Academic City, as well as Tecom Investments’ business partners such as the Gap Corp, Corinthian Publishing and Arjaan.

The students from AIESEC, Middlesex University and University of Wollongong Dubai also took part in the campaign.

Bader Al Zarei, director of corporate affairs, Tecom Investments, said: the company intends to play a bigger role in spreading environmental awareness within Dubai.

'The Clean up the World campaign offers an ideal opportunity to mobilise the residents’ collective involvement and motivate them to get more proactive in maintaining a cleaner environment for the general well-being of the community.'

“Our entities’ enthusiastic participation in this campaign, along with many individuals who volunteered their time and efforts, signifies the extent to which the Tecom Investments’ community is committed to environmental sustainability as one cohesive unit,” he added.

The Clean up the World Campaign spearheads initiatives worldwide that range from waste removal and tree planting to water and energy conservation projects.

The campaign draws on an extended network of volunteers in excess of 35 million in over 100 countries.-TradeArabia News Service
