Award for UAE sculptors
Dubai, August 29, 2007
The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) has unveiled the annual Muhr Awards for Excellence in Arab Cinema.
The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) is offering UAE sculptors a chance to gain international recognition.
The sculptors are urged to shape and craft the new prize trophy for the annual Muhr Awards for Excellence in Arab Cinema.
‘Muhr’ means young horse in Arabic, and represents the nobility, spirit and rich Arabian heritage of the region. The chosen design must reflect a theme of excellence in film, and convey strength and creativity.
“A major part of DIFF’s mandate, promoting and nurturing Arab cinema, stems from our belief that this region is inherently overflowing with creativity. Calling upon UAE artists to create the Muhr award trophy is one of the ways we can reinforce this message. For inspiration and innovation, we need look no further than our own community, which has given DIFF so much support and enthusiasm since its inception,” said DIFF’s artistic director and co-ordinator general of the Muhr Awards Masoud Amralla Al Ali.
The winning sculptor will be fully recognised by DIFF ensuring international recognition. The sculptor’s name will be engraved on each trophy with other benefits such as invitations to the Opening Red Carpet Gala screening and reception and the Muhr Awards Ceremony.
“Interested applicants are invited to download the entry form from the DIFF website: www.dubaifilmfest.com, and email or post entry forms no later than September 15, 2007,” the DIFF organisers said in a statement. – TradeArabia News Service
