The ninth annual Souq Al Jubail Dates Festival that was launched in Sharjah saw wide participation from the owners of dates shops in Souq Al Jubail and a number of visitors. The festival that will be held until the end of September, displayed various types of dates to meet the diverse tastes of visitors, a report said.

Engineer Abdullah Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah City Markets, said that the date festival is one of the most important events that Souq Al Jubail organises every year, given the great interest it attracts from citizens, residents and visitors alike, Emirates News Agency, WAM, said.

It is one of the most important marketing and tourist destinations in the Emirate in addition to its distinguished location in the heart of the city, he said.

He said the festival reiterates the support Sharjah provides to national products, including dates, in conjunction with the date production season in the country, with the aim of supporting efforts aimed at achieving food security, and the interest and keenness to develop the date sector.
