D3 showcases regional designs at London fest
DUBAI, September 24, 2017
Dubai Design District (d3) showcased the works of 18 designers across the Middle East region at the four-day designjunction event running from 21 to 24 September, a part of London Design Festival.
Held at Granary Square, Kings Cross, London, the show is a leading destination for design, arts and culture and featured a variety of immersive experiences, creative workshops and talks.
Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, COO at d3, said: “We were pleased to be a part of this prestigious event. The team curated pieces from some of the region’s most talented designers to showcase the expertise we have in the Middle East. We are particularly proud to have four of d3’s own designers displaying their works at the exhibition. As a design district, we play a central part in promoting creativity in the design world. Our participation at this leading event helps position the Middle East as a global creative centre.”
Co-curated by Suzanne Trocmé, British designer, curator and author, the exhibition titled: Middle East: Design Now! featured traditional materials, design methodologies and displayed the art works of designers and artists across diverse mediums.
Many of the designers utilised traditional methods, materials and motifs in a modern day context, offering an insight into how memory and DNA play a part in the creation of contemporary artefacts and graphics. – TradeArabia News Service
