Morocco launches bid to host 2026 World Cup

RABAT, August 12, 2017

Morocco has launched its bid to host the World Cup in 2026, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF), the country's football association, was quoted as saying in media reports.

In a short statement posted online, the RMFF confirmed that it had submitted its application to the football world governing body, Fifa, by the official deadline of August 11, Wam, the Emirates official news agency reported, citing Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

The host of the 2026 World Cup will be selected at next year's Fifa Congress, as the governing body has rejected a joint request by the US, Canada and Mexico for their bid to be fast-tracked for approval, it added.
