Centena Group named in Dubai's top 100 SMEs

DUBAI, November 23, 2015

Dubai-based Centena Group was honoured as one of Dubai's top small and medium enterprises at the Dubai SME 100 awards 2015.
 
The group has been long esteemed as pioneers in the fields of science and technology in the emirate, both in exploring and identifying advanced applications, has been pronounced 33rd in overall rankings, said a statement.
 
The 2015 award ceremony was conducted at the emirate’s Madinat Jumeirah Hotel under the aegis of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council. 
 
The Dubai Onehundred SME award lauds top-performing SMEs in Dubai, in recognition of their business practices and contribution, in grooming them into larger, more sustainable enterprises, and in assisting their growth into internationally oriented companies. 
 
The parameters on which the companies are evaluated included growth performance, innovation, corporate governance, international orientation, human capital development and CSR initiatives
 
Representing more than 90 per cent of the total number of companies in the UAE, studies showed that SMEs account for over 85 per cent of employment opportunities in the private sector. 
 
This fast evolving sector also contributed up to 40 to 46 per cent to Dubai’s GDP, not to mention over 60 per cent of the UAE’s GDP. 
 
The SME award lauded top-performing SMEs in Dubai, in recognition of their efforts and contribution, in grooming them into larger, more sustainable enterprises, and in assisting their growth into larger, internationally oriented companies.

The forerunner of Centena is 'Maritronics' established in 1980 in Dubai as a marine electronics sales and service operation. Maritronics is now a division of The Centena Group, maintaining its flagship status within the group. 
 
The expertise and acceptance that the company acquired in business operation as well as in technology emboldened it to grow and expand laterally into applications in other fields and industries than maritime.  This was a milestone strategic decision that found Centena expanding its operations into life and analytical science applications; industrial  control automation; identification and security; and educational and training systems.
 
These operations are conducted under established companies within the region such as Emphor, Tensosys, ScreenCheck and Atlab under astute administration of the Centena Group. 
 
Dubai Onehundred SME had ranked the Centena group No 1 under the sub category of group A companies for Innovation, recognizing the group as leaders in Innovative solutions and for launching three brands of their own Bravo, Exceed and Edge that cater to a variety of verticals.
