Dubai World Hospitality Championship (DWHC), a  has achieved a new Guinness World Record title with the display of the world’s highest advertising from the top of Burj Khalifa with a height of 452 meters.

The Guinness World Records Record Holder certificate was awarded on the sidelines of the second edition of the three-day DWHC, an initiative that seeks to spotlight Dubai amongst the finest multicultural culinary destinations of the world, which concluded yesterday (November 1) at Dubai World Trade Centre.

The initiative is poised to promote Emirati hospitality and reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading international destination for hospitality industries.

Omar Amin, member of DWHC Organising Committee, said: “This unique and first-of-its-kind advertising is part of our promotional plan to promote for DWHC from the top of Burj Khalifa for the entire world to see; especially that Burj Khalifa receives around 150,000 visitors from all over the world per month.”

“Since Dubai attracts tourists from all over the world, DWHC is designed to offer an ideal platform to introduce the world to Emirati cooking and hospitality, with focus on the traditional popular dishes that the UAE has been long known for. Accordingly, we managed to attract over 25,000 visitors to attend the second edition of DWHC,” he added.

Amin further pointed out that the DWHC has achieved three Guinness World Records in the 2013 edition, making the world’s largest serving of Aseeda at a weight of 2.8 tonnes; and the largest serving of pickled vegetables (known as ‘Achar’ in the UAE) which weighed 1.5 tonnes and took 19 men to make it in 166 hours using 1,520 litres of vinegar blended with herbs, spices and salt and 1579 kg of vegetables.

The third Guinness entry was the creation of the world’s largest chocolate truffle mosaic that displayed Dubai’s logo for Expo 2020, using 4,000 pieces of chocolate over a 400-sq m area.

DWHC 2014 featured a variety of cooking and hospitality-related activities and competitions, highlighting the genuine Gulf and Emirati heritage and culture. The event aims to shed light on the Emirati cooking traditions and Gulf hospitality to preserve it for the coming generations.

It offered visitors the opportunity to enjoy watching best-in-class cooking shows and competitions amongst talented chefs in preparing the finest Emirati and international dishes, in addition to showcasing food creations, Gulf products and the famous Hospitality Sector Competition.
