Cartoon Network Arabic launches new contest
Dubai, April 27, 2014
Cartoon Network Arabic, a leading children’s entertainment channel in the Mena region, has launched this year’s ‘Creative Generation Competition’ in partnership with Mansour, an innovative and exciting Emirati cartoon character.
Now in its third year, the highly popular competition is designed to inspire children across the region and encourage their creative thinking.
This year, the theme of the competition is built around the positive, interpersonal values championed on the newest addition to Cartoon Network Arabic, Mansour, such as friendship, tolerance and acceptance.
Cartoon Network Arabic welcomed Mansour to the network this March in order to reach a greater number of young minds across the region. Mansour is a young, friendly and intelligent Emirati boy who teaches children about the importance of Arabic language and UAE culture and heritage.
Through this partnership, the Creative Generation Competition will welcome Mansour to the Cartoon Network Arabic family. To enter the competition, children will pick their favourite Cartoon Network Arabic characters and then tap their imagination and creativity to create drawings that express how these characters will welcome their new friend, Mansour.
Cartoon Network Arabic will visit schools in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Qatar to launch the competition, with children across the MENA region also able to enter online via www.CartoonNetworkArabic.com.
The competition will be judged across three age brackets: 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Fifteen lucky students will be selected from across the region to win Cartoon Network Kurio 7S tablets and to have their art showcased on the channel.
Commenting on the contest, Tal Hewitt, the vice president & GM Middle East, Africa and Turkey for Turner Broadcasting said: "At Cartoon Network Arabic, we always look for new and creative ways to inspire our young viewers. We believe that the new show “Mansour” is an excellent addition to our growing portfolio, and we are excited to see the creative ways in which children respond to him through Creative Generation."
“Over the years, we have seen some wonderful entries into our Creative Generation competition, with artwork that was of a very high standard. We’re sure that this year will be even better. In addition to discovering new talent, this year’s theme will help children to consider, understand and express the very important themes of friendship and tolerance,” he added.
Mansour’s creator, Rashed Al Harmoodi, said this partnership with the Creative Generation Competition is a great example of how Mansour is about more than just TV.
"Through the competition, Mansour will inspire children whether they are at home, watching TV, in school or online. Mansour’s new home at Cartoon Network Arabic will also enable the show to grow beyond the UAE community to the region," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
