UAE, July 11, 2015
The sixth edition of the Beirut Art Fair, an art fair dedicated to the rich artistic offerings from the Middle East, North Africa (Mena) and South Asia region, is set to take place from September 17 to 20 in Beirut, Lebanon.
The event stands as the primary source of information on the artists, trends, galleries, publications and institutions that contribute to the rapid advancement of art in this region.
In 2014, the fair welcomed around 20,000 visitors and achieved sales reaching over $3 million, said the event’s organisers.
This year, the fair will host over 50 galleries showcasing more than 1,500 contemporary artworks by some 200 artists from 30 nationalities represented by galleries from 16 countries, they added.
The success of the recent art auctions held in Mena and South Asia has demonstrated the increased interest in buying, collecting and investing in the region’s art, it said.
Laure d’Hauteville, the fair director, said: “The international art scene has witnessed a surging wave of public auction sales for contemporary regional art, capturing the attention of large auction houses and art collectors.”
“For the past five years, the fair has been the main window to the region’s creativity on both the national and international scenes, playing a leading role in the globe-spanning art ecosystem and market,” she said.
“We strive to keep up this pace of growth as we continue to showcase the best quality works and collections from both well established and emerging artists in the region, so as to satisfy the collector’s appetite for all forms of art, be it painting, sculpture, drawings, photography, video, or installations. Our will is to always be in line with the changes in the art market,” she added. – TradeArabia News Service
