Dubai Smart Government bags top technology awards

DUBAI, June 18, 2015

Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG) has bagged two awards at the ITP Technology .Gov Awards 2015 held in Dubai, UAE recently.

The awards were for its Customer User Experience Lab and its MyID service, said a statement.

The trophies were awarded to DSG, represented by Marwan Bin Haidar, executive director of Planning and Development, and the specialised teams connected with the two services.

Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG director general, said: "I congratulate the DSG team on this double honour which marks DSG's excellence in offering innovative smart services that contribute to increasing customer satisfaction and adoption rates.

“DSG is striving to use innovation in developing services in line with the directives of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for making Dubai the smartest city in the world, and in conformity with the DSG strategic plan 2014-2017 for smart transformation and high quality of services aimed at gaining the satisfaction of customers, bringing happiness to them and achieving Dubai Government's aspirations throughout its journey towards the world's smartest city.”

"DSG has adopted the concept of customer engagement in designing services through its customer user experience lab, through which the mDubai app was designed and the current version of MyID services was improved. These experiences were also used for implementing the happiness meter, which DSG is applying based on its belief in the importance of this lab for raising awareness, measuring usage rate, collecting feedback on the type and level of services needs by customers of different cultures and languages, seeking solutions to the challenges faced by customers and prompting them to use these services through simplifying and easing procedures and raising the efficiency of services,” said Bin Humaidan.

“We also believe in the importance of future services and hence DSG is keen on realising the concept of connected smart government by coordinating with a large number of government entities with the aim of providing a selective bouquet of attractive services to our customers,” he said.

The ITP Technology .Gov Awards were launched by the ITP Publishing Group to honour the achievements of the government sector in the GCC in the ICT field.

It aims to highlight the progress that the Gulf region has made in the field of smart government and the use of information technology to drive progress and improve lives.

The awards were presented in 14 categories, which recognised new online services, successful deployments carried out by government departments, new initiatives in government services and outstanding leaders and individuals. - TradeArabia News Service
