Secureway to host IT security seminar
Riyadh, March 27, 2011
Secureway Network Distributors, the specialist value-added distributors in the IT security and mobility industry, along with its vendor partners, Sourcefire and Lumension, is hosting an IT security seminar for its customers and partners in Riyadh on Monday.
The seminar, to be held at the Intercontinental Hotel Riyadh, will cover a diverse set of IT security topics.
Pat Clawson, the chairman and CEO of Lumension, and senior global executives of both companies, will address a wide range of IT security issues at the event that will be attended by CIOs, IT Managers and senior managers of leading Saudi companies.
The topics for discussion include security issues in today’s world, including next generation IPS and application control, leveraging contextual awareness for real-world protection, intrusion management in an increasingly encrypted world, next generation threats targeting the cloud and compliance monitoring and enforcement.
Attendees will also have a demonstration of the Lumension Endpoint Management and Security Suite (LEMSS), the platform for Lumension Intelligent Whitelisting, a trust-based solution that integrates Patch, Anti-Virus, Application Control and soon to come, Device Control.
Clawson said the complex IT risks in today’s world needs far greater understanding and awareness to ensure that the business environment is protected.
"Our current effort to provide a platform for risk management discussions in Riyadh is a starting point to highlight the serious threats and to focus on the need for a defense in depth approach to effective endpoint security."
"We are confident that this seminar will offer our customers and partners deep insights into key security issues facing businesses in today’s world and solutions that will help improve endpoint visibility and protect their networks against known and unknown threats," explained Clawson.
"In today’s dynamic threat landscape, more sophisticated, targeted attacks such as Advanced Persistent Threats and zero-day malware continue to increase rapidly."
"In addition, Web 2.0 technologies and the social business environment have introduced new IT risks that traditional endpoint security technologies, such as antivirus, were never designed to protect against. Today, more than 2 million malware signatures are identified every month, leaving antivirus solutions simply unable to keep up," he added.
Maher Jadallah, regional manager - ME, Sourcefire, said, "We are committed to the ever changing dynamics of IT threats and are constantly in touch with the Middle East distributors, resellers and partners to assess their needs and requirements."
"The seminar will help us share our expertise and knowledge with the objective to create greater understanding of the need for intelligent cybersecurity," he noted.
Besides Clawson and Jadallah, the panel of speakers include Alan Bentley, SVP International and Joakim Sundberg, security engineer of ME.-TradeArabia News Service
