Batelco opens computer lab

Manama, March 16, 2009

Batelco, leading telecom provider, has opened a computer lab as part of its project to provide fully-equipped computer labs and free Internet service to a number of youth centres and clubs in Bahrain.

The project, named Batelco Live, aims to open 30 computer labs in 23 locations.

The Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa visited the computer lab at the Shabab Club in Jidhafs during the official opening of the club.

Shaikh Salman praised Batelco’s generous contribution to the local community that touches all aspects of residents’ lives. He particularly hailed this project as a significant landmark made by the leading telecommunications company Bahrain.

Batelco GM corporate affairs Nadia Hussain briefed the Crown Prince on the lab and outlined the objectives that Batelco aims to achieve from its Batelco Live project.

“This initiative will hopefully enable people in those areas to benefit from the global source of information to meet their studying requirements,” said Hussain.

The Batelco Live project is in line with the company’s strategy to provide broadband access to every household in Bahrain, especially following the successful completion of the company’s state-of-the-art next generation network that has given a strong impetus to achieve this goal. – TradeArabia News Service
