PRO TECHnology, a leading provider of communication, security and storage solutions, has launched the world’s first external 2.5” hard disk with a storage capacity of 300 GB.

The FHD-2 PRO is a 175-gram slim hard drive developed by the German-Dutch storage specialist Freecom Technologies. It is a fully compact and mobile data storage unit with an exact dimension of 80 by 140 by 19 millimetres, which is projected to exceed the massive sales success of its predecessor, the 250GB FHD-2 PRO.

The new product had been recently made available to the general public at all Virgin Mega stores and Jumbo Electronics within the UAE. The previous version of the hard disk made record-breaking sales only after a week of its launch, the company said.

However, PRO TECHnology and Freecom predict that new version will triple the sales that the previously launched product had generated.

In addition to maximum storage space for mobile computing applications, the handy FHD-2 PRO 300GB also offers one button data-synchronisation features, which enables users to update their files within all the different computers, which they are using with one button click. Together with the Freecom Sync software, the storage product automatically detects if files have been changed and prompts the user to update these files on the computer or network to the modified versions.  The FHD-2 PRO 300GB is 100 per cent bus-powered and comes in a plastic design, which is supplied with power via a USB port.

Included in the package of the anticipated hard drive is the award winning Nti Shadow True Image Software, which is an easy-to-use backup application that automatically protects the photos, music, video, and various data files. Allowing users to automatically copy files from their PCs to various devices in real time, the software works transparently in the background without disturbing the user’s work and most importantly, it does not take up important system resources. In addition, the programme facilitates easy data restoration and the preservation of the files in their native format.
