India's main share index hits record high

Banglaore, October 26, 2007

India's main share index rose more than 2 per cent to a record high, led by Reliance Industries, showing little disappointment with a tightening of investment rules for unregistered foreigners.

At 11:43 am (0613 GMT), the benchmark 30-share BSE index was up 2.30 per cent, or 431.55 points, at 19,202.44

The previous record high of 19,198.66 was hit on Oct 18.
