Alba holds ‘Extreme Ownership’ workshop

MANAMA, September 23, 2018

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the Bahrain-based aluminium smelter, recently held a one-day workshop titled ‘Extreme Ownership’ in preparation for its Line 6 expansion project’s safe start-up and delivery of first hot metal on January 1.

The workshop was based on the best-selling book written by ex-US Navy seals Jocko Willink and Leif Babin, said a statement from the company.

The workshop was tailored for Alba Line 6 start-up, Bechtel, GE-GAMA and Siemens teams, and was delivered by Alba’s chief executive officer Tim Murray on September 22, at the Alba Club, it said.

Alba’s executives and directors also attended this workshop, it added.

Murray said: “The Extreme Ownership workshop represents another step in the evolution of our company becoming the largest smelter in the world.

“By creating our own in-house designed workshops, we achieve maximum buy-in as we prepare for Line 6 Safe Start-up on January 1,” he said.

The ‘Extreme Ownership’ workshops will also be presented to the executive management and employees across various departments in line with preparing them for the Safe Start-Up of Alba’s Line 6 Expansion Project, it said.

As Alba begins the countdown of Line 6 start-up, the company’s CEO has been frequently meeting the teams of Line 6 owners, start-ups, EPCM and EPC contractors and motivating them by distributing orange tee shirts, which are symbolic of strength and endurance, to emphasise the rise of a new future for Alba with the start-up of Line 6, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
