UAE telecom operator EITC gears up for VAT

DUBAI, October 26, 2017

Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), a fully licensed telecom operator in the UAE and the owner of du, said that it is working towards the introduction of VAT in accordance with the Federal Decree-Law No 8 of 2017, which comes into effect in January.

The UAE VAT regime, issued by President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will be applicable across telecommunications products and services at a rate of 5 per cent as mandated by the Federal Tax Authority.

EITC said it is working towards compliance with the UAE-wide VAT regime across all its brands and services.

"We see the introduction of VAT as a positive step towards developing a sustainable, economically diverse and future proof UAE," remarked Osman Sultan, the chief executive officer of EITC.

“Our nation and its leaders have worked tirelessly to provide us with numerous public services and amenities, and this is an opportunity for us to help in taking this success further,” he stated.

“Ahead of the VAT implementation, we will be taking the necessary measures to educate our customers so that they are fully aware of the government directives regarding VAT and the way that it will impact their telecommunications spend,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
