The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) shared its experience in implementing world-class maritime registration and licensing services with the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport in Abu Dhabi (DMAT) during their recently held meeting in Dubai, UAE.

DMCA is the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector.

Both parties also exchanged expertise to achieve their common goals of further improving the marine licensing system according to the highest international standards and reinforcing the UAE’s position as one of the most important maritime and logistics capitals in the world, said a statement from the authority.

The meeting held at the DMCA’s headquarters underscored the significance of constant collaboration between federal and local government authorities to enhance the country’s maritime transport sector, a pivotal player in the UAE’s economic growth and diversification, it said.

Attendees of the meeting from both sides discussed the country’s maritime registration and licensing mechanisms as well as compared the proposed fees for maritime services in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to implement best practices and ensure customer happiness and satisfaction, it added.

The DMCA representatives also presented the authority’s different services, with special emphasis on its continuous endeavours to upgrade Dubai’s maritime registration and licensing processes through a unified platform.

These initiatives are critical to the management of local maritime operations according to the highest standards of occupational safety, best environmental practices, and local and international decisions.

The two sides stressed their commitment to jointly organise relevant workshops and exchange expertise, experiences, and information for the benefit of the maritime sector.
