Oman Drydock to covert fifth Greek vessel

MUSCAT, November 7, 2016

Oman Drydock Company, a wholly owned entity of the Government of Oman, has secured a contract to convert the fifth Greek vessel from ore/crude oil carrier to just crude oil carrier, said a report.

After successfully completing conversion of four vessels in the ‘Olympic’ series, it received the fifth one – Olympic Target, added the Oman Tribune report.

More than 300 workers will be involved in the project, which will need 2,200 tonnes of steel. The work will be completed in 80 days, it said.

Deputy CEO for operations Ahmad Al Abri said the giant carrier entered the drydock for conversion and other general maintenance works including coating, replacement of a number of parts and some repairs.

ODC will carry out other additional works through an integrated team that includes technicians, engineers and specialists, added the report.
