Sika Gulf mulls key acquisition to boost growth

Bahrain-based Sika Gulf, a joint venture between Swiss construction materials group Sika and Saudi Sumam Chemicals, aims to double the company's turnover in the next five years by accelerating organic growth and through key acquisitions, said a senior official.

Ashraf Wahib, the area manager for GCC, was speaking at a gala dinner held at Art Rotana in Bahrain to celebrate two decades of its operation in the Gulf region.

"Over the past 20 years, Sika Arabia has established itself as an industry leader in specialty chemical products and industrial construction materials," stated Wahib.

"Today, we are celebrating a key milestone for Sika Arabia in the GCC, as the largest producer of construction chemicals across the Middle East and Africa," he added.

The dinner was attended by Etienne Thévoz, Swiss Ambassador to Qatar and Bahrain and Paul Haelg, the group chairman besides Abdullaziz Zaidan, Sika Arabia chairman and other key players from the construction industry.

During the event, 27 of its employees, who had put in 15 years or more of service at the company, were honoured.

Sika Arabia boasts a highly skilled, innovative and diverse workforce.

More than 40 per cent of its employees are locals, with a number of them holding key positions, and contributing efficiently to the robust and dynamic growth of the business, said the company in its statement.

Sika Arabia continues to bolster its investments in technology and production facilities within the GCC. Currently, it has  factories in Rabigh (Saudi Arabia), Dubai (UAE) and Manama (Bahrain), with two additional plants in the pipeline.

Established in 1995, Sika Gulf in Bahrain is a leading supplier of specialty chemical products and industrial materials serving construction and industrial markets including transportation, marine, and automotive.

Additionally, Sika also manufactures concrete admixtures and ready-to-use mortar to supply countries in the region. Sika has offices across the GCC.-TradeArabia News Service
