SolarWind, a French company specialised in electronics, has developed and launched the SUNSET, a solar candelabra with a 30-year lifecycle that can pay for itself in under two years.

The SUNSET will provide a technological solutions that comes with a comprehensive six-year warranty, and which is fully funded by key international players, said a statement.

The solar candelabra will meet street lighting needs of urban and rural settings in all of the world’s regions, and it stands as a cheaper alternative to standard grid-powered lighting, or even to regular solar lighting, it said.

It is the only system to date to generate significant revenue throughout its lifecycle, said the statement.

The technology will provide a two-fold opportunity for developing countries, where there is need of tens of millions of points of light.
