Ducab, a leading manufacturer of high quality electrical cable wires and copper products in the Middle East, will be holding a ground-breaking seminar at the Gulf Industry Fair 2015.
The seminar conducted on the new 'Code of Practice' is entitled 'BS 8519:2010 Selection and installation of fire-resistant power and control cable systems for life safety and fire-fighting applications’, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
It will be led by UK-based Ducab-AEI Cables technical department project manager Ian Watts.
Watts, who has worked in the cable industry for more than 30 years, has gained a wealth of experience from working with the former BICC Cables, Balfour Kilpatrick and Tyco Thermal Controls UK.
As well as having a particular interest himself in fire resistant cables, he was invited to join the BSI committee FSH/25/3 (Smoke and Heat Control Cables) and subsequently FSH/001 & FSH/001/0-/0 1 (Fire Safety Cables).
“The seminar at Gulf Industry Fair provides an excellent platform for us to share and discuss our knowledge on recommendations and guidance for power and control cable systems that is required to maintain circuit integrity for these critical applications,” BICC MET Bahrain general manager Ulhas Menon said.
“Having similar goals and objectives as the IFPO, the aim of the seminar is to promote the advancement of fire safety education generally, informing and bringing together those who have a mutual interest in fire safety,” Menon added.
“Ducab are leaders in their field, winning five Superbrand awards in consecutive years for branding excellence in the Middle East region,” Gulf Industry Fair organiser Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions managing director Jubran Abdulrahman said.
“Their specialist seminar at Gulf Industry Fair will add an exciting insight to a crucial aspect for the cable industry,” he added.
AEI Cables UK, another Ducab subsidiary, has been an affiliated member of the Institute of Fire Officers for 15 years.
Watts will be presenting the CPD certified course for professionals from the mechanical, electrical and plumbing industry on February 4 at the Gulf Industry Fair at 4pm. - TradeArabia News Service
