New Nimr factory construction begins in Abu Dhabi

Tawazun Holding 's vehicle manufacturer Nimr Automotive has begun the construction of its new integrated facility for production of Nimr vehicles in Abu Dhabi, said a report.
The facility, located at the Tawazun Industrial Park, is expected to be fully operational by October next year and will double the current production capacity, said the Emirates 24/7 report.
The design of the facility under construction meets all requirements of lean production methods that allow maximum efficiency in manufacturing, while following international health and safety standards, it said.
"The new integrated facility will help Nimr Automotive re-establish itself as a well-recognised brand in the international military vehicles industry and render it in better position to serve its growing customer base," Saif Mohamed Al Hajeri, chief executive officer of Tawazun, was quoted as saying.
It covers a built-up area of 37,000 sq m in addition to a test tract and service centre. The facility will feature a complete production cycle of vehicle design, development, prototyping, testing and serial production, said the report.
The project is being developed by Arabtec Construction, it added.
